Stanbroke has taken out the annual 2021 Regatta Hotel Beef Off competition for the second year in a row. This is proudly now the fifth title win for Stanbroke in this competition.

One of the traditional events held around Brisbane Show time every August, the Beef-Off steak challenge has been held every year since 2013. It was again hosted at Toowong’s historic Regatta Hotel Boatshed restaurant, with over 200 hardcore carnivores in attendance.

This year, five well known beef supply chains from across eastern Australia lined up for competition, showcasing their best wet aged sirloins. Guests had to blind taste test all five, which were expertly and consistently cooked by the team at The Regatta Hotel.

Stanbroke sales manager Mark Harris claims it was a “pretty resounding victory”. He said the tough competition was a welcome reflection of the standard of beef coming out of southern Queensland in recent years, with good seasons working in graziers’ favour.

“The quality of the cattle is just sensational at the moment,” Mr Harris said. “We’re seeing that of course in the meat, but also in our production data — carcass weights, carcass performance. The graziers out there are certainly doing a sensational job.”

The winning steak was a 120-day grain-fed Diamantina Angus striploin with a marble score of two to three and is available to the public from Peter Augustus in Brisbane.
